Our neighborhood

Close to buses, the light rail and a short taxi ride to anywhere, Glebe is a great place to stay for a visit to Sydney. There are cafes, pubs & restaurants (of all price ranges and quality), and little supermarkets a minute or two's walk away. It has a village atmostphere with markets on the weekend but at the other end of main street there is a big shopping centre too. From your bed or in the spare room you overlook the city & harbour and can watch the fishing trawlers pull up at the Fish Markets with their catch & walk to them within 15 minutes! Prawns, oysters, lobsters, & fish just begging to be eaten! It takes just 20 minutes to walk to Darling Harbour and 25 minutes to be at David Jones (largest Department Store). There is a great walkway around the harbour foreshore to a lovely big park so you can join the locals (& their dogs) for your daily exercise routine! I live here for all these reasons and more that I've detailed above.

Something about ourselves

My name is Sarah and I'm 43 & own a wee hairdressing salon in a neighbouring suburb and my boyfriend Michael (51) lives in a neighbouring suburb too! We love to ski, sail and kayaking, cycling, swimming and other outdoor activities as we do have good weather for it in Sydney. At nights I do lots of crafty things or go to the theatre, movies or catch up with friends. We've not done home swapping before but thought we'd give it a whirl seeing how we are going to Tokyo at Christmas for some sightseeing and skiing and it would be a shame for someone not to participate in our fabulous New Year's Eve fireworks (from my house and the end of the street) when we won't be! Also the Sydney Festival is on for all of January each year so there are opportunities galore for all sorts of cultural activities. We'd like to go to the Blues & Roots Festival in Byron Bay at Easter 2010 so a week around that time would be great. We have friends (a couple in their 40's) from New Zealand who'd like to come too so a house with 2 or more bedrooms would be good!
