Our house is a cute semi-detached with a front garden and a deck overlooking the private tree-filled back garden. There isn't a garage but there's never a problem parking in the street. We have gas-fired heaters in the hall and dining room, a warming flame-effect heater in the sitting room and heated towel rails in the bathroom and laundry/toilet. These are sufficient to keep the house cosy as the winters are not cold enough to require central heating; in fact, blue skies throughout the year! We have an outdoor hot and cold shower where we blissfully bathe in the fresh air. We have a car and are happy to swap athough our's is only a modest two-door 2000 Holden Barina.
We could provide two 'referees'. One, a couple from Dorset who last month stayed in our home and liked it very much and the other a Bristol-born Professor now at the University of NSW who is a neighbour and friend.

We are within walking distance of the University of NSW where, prior to retirement, we were employed. Also, practically around the corner is a teaching hospital, The Prince of Wales. Nearly all our working neighbours are at either complex. A short stroll takes us to the Spot entertainment area with it's heritage cinema and twenty plus restaurants and Randwick Racecourse is a half hour walk or 10 minutes on the bus. The city centre with Opera House, Bridge and harbour are only a few miles away but between 15 and 30 minutes on the bus, depending on the time of day.
There is some rush-hour traffic in our street, but it's short-lived and hardly a rush-hour at that. Also, some aeroplane noise occasionally, depending on the flight path but nothing intrusive. Our neighbours are quiet and friendly. Every morning I walk to the beach (15 minutes down but I cheat catching a bus back up!) and swim at the one ladies'-only sea baths in Australia. We are retired and settled British migrants but both our sons returned to the UK several years ago. We have just arrived back in Sydney after six months in London with our eldest son and now wish to return and spend time in Bristol with our other son and new grandson. He does not have spare accommodation so we seek to do a long-length exchange; a minimum of six months and maximum of two years.
PLEASE, ONLY FOR THE WIDER BRISTOL AREA. When we last listed, despite requesting an exchange in southern England, we had replies (very nice friendly replies) from all over the world. Truly. From Alaska, islands off the coast of India and places we had to find on the map! I answered them all but it really was a waste of everyone's time. So, apologies for being so specific, but we definitely want to be within reach of Bristol, i.e. Bath, Swindon, Chippenham, etc.
