Description of our house

Our home is absolute beachfront. We are situated 20mins from Byron Bay. Step out the door and onto the sand dunes of a beautiful pristine beach. There is a large tropical garden surrounding the house filled with a wide variety of birdlife. We have renovated the house completely and it is now open plan with bi-fold sunny windows, lots of timber and ocean views. Two large doors open up the house onto a big deck which is where we spend most of our time, perfect for long lunches looking out to the ocean and garden. At the front of our property, separated by a narrow road, is the river for fishing or canoeing. The house is very peaceful with always the sound of the ocean and the birds. .

New Brighton is 45 mins from the Gold Coast airport. Byron Bay, known for its relaxed lifestyle and beautiful beaches is 20mins drive. This is the most easterly point of Australia and a good place for whale watching. It has many restaurants, cafes, galleries and interesting shopping. Brunswick Heads is 5 mins drive and has cafes, restaurants, tavern and shops. There is a large supermarket 2mins drive. And if you don't want to get in the car there is a general store with everything - post office, bank, liquor, groceries, cafe/restaurant and farmer's market just a 2 min walk. Our uncrowded beach at the back door is very clean and long - great for walking, swimming, fishing or surfing. We often watch the dolphins or the whales in winter. The hinterland is a 20 minute drive and you will find beautiful rainforest walks and hiking. There are also many little townships among the rolling hills to visit. Something about ourselves

My husband (Richard 63) and myself (Chrystine 49) live aboard our catamaran which is moored in the nearby harbour of Brunswick Heads. Richard is a boatbuilder and built this boat to sell, but we fell in love (with the boat!) and now love sailing our boat and living on the river. We enjoy the beautiful natural environment and go rowing on the river, swimming and walking on the beach and practice our early morning yoga with the seagulls. We have two daughters Shannon 24, a naturopath and Kylie 26, a magazine editor (now living in Rome). They try to come home as much as they can. As a family we all enjoy anything to do with food so there are long BBQ lunches and delicious dinners with lots of talking about books, music and travel. We often think we live in the most beautiful part of the world until we travel out of our little corner and discover that not only are there other destinations just as beautiful but also interesting and stimulating because of the differences and the people. We look forward to exploring more of the world. ![]()
