Neutral Bay is an established Sydney Lower North Shore suburb, with very easy transport by bus and/or ferry to the city centre,(7 minutes by bus) Harbour Bridge,Opera House, Botanical Gardens, Rocks area, beaches and the Zoo. If you are a walker, a 40 minute walk will get you over the Harbour Bridge into the Sydney Rocks area, a central point of the city.Public transport will also easily get you to the city and Northern beaches, (eg Manly, Palm Beach), Eastern Suburbs (eg Paddington and Bondi) and inner city suburbs like Balmain and Newtown. You can walk to dozens of local cafes, restaurants and the excellent local "art" cinema. Supermarkets and shops are a 5 minute walk away. An easy walk brings you to foreshore walks with views to Opera House and Harbour Bridge. We live in this suburb because of its proximity to the best Sydney has to offer. Our house is in a lovely, quiet, tree lined street, but within close proximity to the bustle of urban living. John is a semi-retired Engineer and Basia is an art Teacher during Sydney school holidays, part time art therapist and artist. We like to travel overseas a couple of times a year. Our wish list for 2014 is Georgia USA with possibly New York and San Francisco added to that trip. We also look forward to another trip to Italy and would love an exchange in London.
We like to spend Christmas and January in Sydney, I(Basia)teach kids art workshops in January and all Sydney School holidays, therefore those times are not possible for exchange.
Our interests include travel, art, hiking, fishing, fine dining, reading, music, theater, history and swimming. We would like to have some email correspondence to assist our fellow exchangers prior to the exchange, having found all our exchanges greatly enhanced by prior correspondence. We have now thoroughly enjoyed a number of house exchanges, each one a wonderful experience, and each one extending to delightful friendships.
We are also always seeking exchanges in the Auckland Area, (Not school holidays) as we have close family living there and whilst we like to visit, we like to stay in our "own space" with Devonport, or nearby, our ultimate wish.
We are always open to other travel destinations, especially Europe and including in Australia, so do not hesitate to write. Outlined above is our "wish List" but other options will be happily considered.
