Utila, Bay Islands, a top diving destination, is a small island just 12 miles off the coast of Honduras, La Ceiba being the closest city sporting an International Airport. There is only one town on the island, so you can walk everywhere! Utila is on the Mayan Reef, the largest reef in the Northern Hemisphere and well know for fantastic diving, snorkeling and whale shark spotting! Utila is a safe town. Honduras is a great place, the mainland has a very different culture than the Bay Islands. The Bay Islanders speak English (almost sounds like a Scottish accent) primarily and then Spanish. The mainlanders of course are Spanish speaking and with a latin culture, as one would expect from Central America! The Bay Island people are very kind and intersting and interested people. From La Ceiba, there are ferries (1 hr) and numerous flights (10 min.) to Utila The nearest Internation Airports are San Pedro Sula and Roatan. Nearly all transportation to Utila is via La Ceiba.

Marty is a retired engineer and Carrell is a retired Nurse Practitioner. Both of us are in our 50s live in Arizona, with second homes on Utila, Bay Islands, Honduras and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico! We love to travel, bird watch, hike, cook, read, snorkel, sail and explore new ideas and regions!
